Treatment for Scars: Keloid

Keloid removal can be quite difficult because of the great probability of them returning, and they can also be a hindrance with their grotesque appearance and sometimes limiting mobility making keloid treatment a necessity. These lesions also can produce significant pain and severe itch. Keloids can occur from a simple cut, insect bite or tattoo and sometimes left behind from a bout with acne.
A keloid scar occurs when the body continues to produce tough, fibrous protein (know as collagen) after a wound has healed. They are irregular in that they expand in size beyond the limits of the wound and rise above the surface of the skin and may continue to grow indefinitely for unknown reasons.
Keloids Treatment Alternatives
Keloid scar removal can be approached in a number of different ways, but they are two general procedures for treatment. One method is to use topical creams or gels. The other is using traditional surgical techniques or more modern laser options. Keep in mind that people having one keloid scar are prone to this condition and should consult an experienced doctor or surgeon.
Surgery
Keloid surgery is always more involved and risky and should only be considered for more severe cases. Risks during the procedure are present as in any surgery but because keloids can be very unpredictable, they can grow back larger than before surgery. In efforts to avoid this, many times doctors use steroid injections, pressure bandages or radiation.
Steroid injections can help ease itching, swelling and burning. These types of procedures all come with a high price tag for scar removal and not just in risks but also when the doctor bill arrives.
Topical Products
Topical products include creams, gels and silicone sheeting and are usually less expensive than surgical procedures but do require a certain amount of patience to see improvements.
Topical treatments that contain silicone have been found to be effective in scar removal. Silicone sheeting is placed over the scar; however, it can be costly because it needs to be applied for several hours each day for weeks or even months until results are achieved. Some people complain that the sheeting does not stay in place, which diminishes its effectiveness.
The next option is a scar removal gel or cream, which usually contains some form of silicone. It creates a protective barrier over the scar that is flexible enough to sustain natural movement and maintain contact with the scar for the necessary period of time needed to start the healing process. The scarred area gently begins to flatten and heal to blend into the surrounding healthy skin.
Natural Keloid Scar Treatment
More recently there has been more natural scar treatments created to remove even keloids without the use of chemicals. Scientists have found that the serum from snails contains enzymes that regulate skin growth by dissolving scar tissue and help in the process of rebuilding new collagen and elastin into the skin. It also prevents keloid scarring, stops keloid itching and shrinks keloids.
If you find yourself with a keloid, you should seek out appropriate and effective keloid scar treatment to address the problem immediately. Prevention is always easier than trying to find a cure.

Acne is a common problem for many people, and it’s not surprising the amount of different acne treatments available for sufferers who are looking for the best over the counter acne treatment. Most over the counter acne products only have the strength to relieve mild acne and are available in the forms of cleansers, exfoliating scrubs, lotions, creams and gels. If you’re fighting with severe acne, it’s best to make an appointment with a doctor to find a method that will work best for you.
If you’ve been searching for a great product for acne scar removal, natural skin care creams are highly recommended instead of using risky prescription medications or expensive procedures offered in spas and dermatologist offices. All natural products have the capability to fill in pits from acne scarring such as those from cystic acne but in a gently way as not to disrupt your skin cells or the natural healing process.
I think that most people would love to use 100% natural products to solve skin problems, but it’s not always easy to find ALL natural skin care products where every one of the ingredients are organic. Just because the packaging says that it is “natural”, does not necessarily mean that the product is beneficial for the overall well being of your skin.
