I like many teens noticed my skin improving during the summer. I didn’t use the sun to try to cure my acne, but I thought it did seem to help….. now I know why.

My dermatologist put me under ultraviolet lights and we used dry ice. Seemed to help some, but not a total cure.

You’re right about the possible damage from the sun. I have a sister-in-law that was a sun worshipper as a teen and young adult. Now, in her mid fifties she is paying the price. Dry wrinkled skin and worries about skin cancer and melanoma. It just doesn’t pay.

Having friends who suffered from acne I can appreciate the frustration and emotional stress that can accompany this skin disorder. I have a business associate that expienced an outbreak in her mid-thirties, leaving severe scaring.

Two of my sons inherited my husbands skin and have had a terrible time with acne. Unfortunately we have resorted to prescription drugs for one of my sons and the other we motor through a myriad of acne facewashes, scrubs and creams. All work temporarily. I doubt the sun is alternative, my son is very fair and when he is in the sun he just tends to burn and it makes it all worse.

Alternative health and natural remedies may well just be the ticket!

You are right that a mild dose of sun can help clear up acne. I know a better way, though: Salt water. I accidently discovered this when swimming in the ocean one day. It cleared up some acne and some ‘poison plant’ rash. Since then I’ve created my own salt water to use in the shower whenever I need it. Works great.

Hi 5 folks … Stress is the most common denominator with most health issues and what I also picked out from your post is drinking water pure water at that? Ive noticed through the years how teenagers have to suffer face breakout of spots as they go through their puberty stage but some how around that time of life if you looked in to most teenager eating life styles you would probably find that fresh fruit and vegetables would not be on their favorite eating menus so to me if you take advantage of all the good old fashioned habits such as eating the right diet drink the right amounts of fresh clear water every day and stick to this habit I’m guessing spots would have no place on your face ….

My teenage daughters both had very challenging cases of acne on their faces. They both went through a time when they thought the sun might help their acne. You are correct that it may help the appearance for awhile but of course it can not clear the acne. It is something very hard for teens and even adults to deal with and they look for any solutions. It is great that there are natural solutions that can be effective.
