Do Parabens Cause Cancer?

Chemicals that are used in cosmetics to preserve freshness and shelf life normally fall into the category of parabens. Most common subcategories are methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isobutylparaben, butylparaben and benzylparaben. For many years now, the safety of these chemicals has been questioned. They are absorbed by the skin directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system, and doctors have found deposits in tissue of cancer patients. Researchers are unable to prove that parabens cause cancer, but they look awfully guilty always being at the crime scene.

Even though the use of parabens are widely used, most consumers don’t know about the possible side effects. Thankfully, we have a choice of cosmetics that don’t use parabens, but they are few compared to the ones that do use parabens as preservatives, so be on the look out. You’ll have to do your research to find natural skin care products that use natural ingredients.
