Believe it or not, but it has already been years since a British scientist found parabens in breast cancer tumors. In a case study of 20 women with breast cancer, 18 of the tumor samples contained parabens. This indicated that they originated from something being applied to the skin. The main suspects are skin creams, deodorants and body sprays.
Even though it’s still not known if these chemicals cause cancer, there have been some interesting findings. It’s known that parabens have estrogenic-like activity in mice, rats and in human breast cancer cells in the laboratory. It’s known that most breast cancers react to estrogen which made the link between products that contain parabens and breast cancer less bizarre.
Knowing this, it isn’t strange that natural skin care is looking a lot more attractive than popular OTC products. To be 100% sure and to avoid parabens altogether, check the back of your skin care product. This will help you avoid possible long term side effects parabens can have.
