Shaving is a daily habit for most men and many women. No matter what part of the body you shave, you will always be prone to razor burn or ingrown hairs. However, some parts of the body, such as the face, are much more prone to ingrown hairs due to the thickness of the hair.

If you take the necessary steps to prevent ingrown hairs, they won’t be an issue. There are a few basic steps you can take to prepare your skin and hair before shaving.

How to Prevent Ingrown Hairs
Ingrown hairs commonly appear when the end of the hair shafts are cut into a sharpened edge that grows back into the same hair follicle. It usually results in redness, itchiness, and/or raised infected areas. Sometimes, you can actually see the small, ingrown hair underneath the raised bump.

Razor Burn Prevention

Nobody likes razor burn, those little bumps that appear shortly after shaving and usually itch and burn. This occurs while shaving as the razor cuts off the top layer of the skin along with the hair. As you can imagine, the skin becomes irritated and screams for mercy. Well, there are a few things you can do to prevent razor burn such as: change your razor often, use a moisturizing shave gel, shave with the grain and avoid aftershave lotions that contain alcohol that will only further aggravate your skin. After shaving, don’t forget to use a natural moisturizer to soften and soothe your skin.
