Watering Your Skin on a Daily Basis
by BioCutis
We´ve all heard how important water is for our health. In fact, every system in our body relays on water and in turn will function better with a sufficient supply of it. Making ourselves aware of our daily water requirements is a necessity if we want healthy, radiant skin. When it comes to hydrating our skin, we need to be concerned not only with what we put on our bodies but more importantly, what we put in our bodies.
Water naturally purifies the body by flushing out toxins and waste. Unlike our ancestors, our intake of processed foods containing high levels of preservatives are considerable higher not to mention the amount of pollution that we´re exposed to on a daily basis. The number of contaminants that we come in contact every day requires an increase in water intake to flush them out and repair our body´s system. Without the cleansing effects of water, the chemical substances accumulate and damage the cells, which prevent neurotransmissions from one nerve cell to another.
By removing toxins and impurities with water, our skin will be clearer, smoother and younger looking. It also helps in hydrating, revitalizing and oxygenating the skin exposing the natural beauty and glow of healthy skin. In contrast, dehydration leads to the thinning of skin, fine lines, wrinkles and crow´s feet, all of which will make one look older.
Water is important to keep our skin clear, smooth and supple. When we focus on the very cells that make up the skin, water is the most important factor in their formation and repair. When the cells are functioning properly, the obvious result will be beautiful skin. Nauture has given us the answer to have wonderful, healthy skin and by drinking our daily quota of water, we´ll be able to have skin that´s radiant and glows, naturally.
Developing a habit of a regular intake of water to keep the body hydrated is the best way of improving the appearance of our skin. Not only will we have great skin, but we´ll keep it longer because properly hydrated skin will protect against premature aging and we´ll look younger longer.
Be sure to water your skin every day with 6-8 glasses of water, and you´ll be on your way to the gorgeous skin that you´ve always dreamed of.

I use to drink diet coke all day… no water as it had no “flavor”. I now do not drink diet coke and not only was a fog lifted, I felt tremendously better. This is true. My skin did get a good lift once I started drinking water.

I have always tried to consume more than 8 glasses of fluids per day though I admit more than half are typically soda or coffee. You make a very compelling case for switching over to water to help increase my health … both inside and out …. thanks …

Hi there!
I’m big into water too. For years I’ve had life-threatening symptoms of water (or electrolyte) imbalance. Finally it began to affect my heart. So I learned about alkaline water and it has saved my life. Your so right that hydration is IMPORTANT.
I was taking all kinds of supplements, being a health nut and all, but because my tap water wasn’t alkaline, my supplements couldn’t even be absorbed. I was a mess and it was all about water and hydration. My skin sure looks better now.
You said, “Be sure to water your skin every day with 6-8 glasses of water, and you´ll be on your way to the gorgeous skin that you´ve always dreamed of.”
I would just add one little word: alkaline. Let’s be sure to water our skin with alkaline water. Being acidic is life-threatening.

Hi one n’all … great title you have there! … I’ve been an advocate of drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily for a long time now because I believe everyone should do the same its obvious if you think about it for the reasons as you have pointed out in your article? … but its not an easy task to take on-board at first because you seem to be running to the toilet on a regular basis and this can be the stumbling block to stop folks taking this drinking water habit seriously … so here’s my advice that really works for me and a lot of other folks I’ve shared this with … its best to have the water room temperature and leave a few bottles scattered around your house office anywhere that’s logical so you see the bottles most places you look … then don’t gulp the water down … swish a mouthful at a time around your mouth longer than you normally would then swallow in intervals slower the better think about it as drinking a very expensive fine wine …. and you find the water blends in with your body and your body functions easier …. after all in drought starved countries water is the most precious substance of life … no water no life … think about that every time you take a swig … huh!!!
All my best to you and your better habits

I drink a lot of water daily. I’m also pedantic about using bodywashes and facewash and exfoliating my skin – getting rid of all that dead stuff that just makes your skin look worse. Moisturising and nourishing your skin with good non-oily base products is good as well. Hydration in and out is the best.
Great article, thanks for sharing.

Oh yes definitely. I think everybody who decides to have proper “water regime” will notcice the difference within few days. Skin, digestive system, hair, eyes and mainly overall freshness. I have always jug filled with water ion my table and take care to fill it at least 3 times a day…

We are so concerned about what goes on the outside of our face but this is a much weaker response to any problems with our skin. Skin must be nourished from the inside first – then the outside will take care of itself. When a cell is plump with water (the only time we ever want to be ‘plump’
, then it will be firm and wrinkles won’t have a chance to get started. Some authorities look at a wrinkle as a wound, which means we have a lot more control over the appearance of our skin than we believe. If anybody doubts this, all they have to do is experiment: simply drink ample amounts of GOOD water every day for 4-6 weeks and then judge for themselves.

Sometimes it seems that the more “advanced” we get as a society, the more we forget the basics. I don’t know how long humans have been on earth, but it’s been awhile. Bodies were designed with their own immune system, and it works great, so long as we provide it with the basics … nutrients and water.
But in the last 80 years or so, many people have lost sight of that. You can see a ton of ads for expensive skin care products and therapies. Some of these are actually viewed as toxic by our bodies, and our immune system mobilizes to fight them.
There are some good, helpful products. But I agree with you that the most important action anyone can take to keep their skin healthy is to water it. So simple. Yet to many, so out of date.

Yes, it’s nice to be reminded of the simple things in life sometimes. In an age where we are completely over ridden with all sorts of products claiming, this or that, it’s good to know that usually it’s the basics that are most important.
I’m glad to say, that if it’s one thing I do drink a lot of, it’s water!
Thanx for the article..

This is great information. I actually have to set alarms for me to remember to drink enough. I get so focused for such long periods of time that I forget. Thanks for reminding me!!
I have friends who drink LOTS of water and it’s obvious when I look at their skin and complexion. You can really tell!
Thanks again!

Water at the cellular level is an incredible study. You are so right about the benefits of hydration and the very damaging results of dehydration. Yet it’s really almost too simple for us to believe.
Spending a ton on skin care products and not drinking enough water is all too common.
Here’s to drinking water! Cheers!

I’m big into water therapy too. In fact, my life has been in jeopardy because of water imbalances and electrolyte imbalances. For the past few years I’ve been struggling to understand just what a place water plays in my health.
You’re so right about this: “Be sure to water your skin every day with 6-8 glasses of water, and you´ll be on your way to the gorgeous skin that you´ve always dreamed of.”
Once I began drinking enough alkaline water, my skin improved dramatically! So I would add just one little word to your presentation…alkaline. Until just recently I didn’t even know water could be acidic and harmful…
Change your water, change your life!
Thanks for your input…

Great tips: as the largest organ of the body, I think it’s amazing how few people really think to give it the care it needs. Drinking water is such a simple stuff that is overlooked by far too many.

I’ve heard that the majority of medical ailments are a result of people not drinking enough water.
I think I’m going to grab myself a glass of agua right now.

It makes sense that if we are made up of 70%+ water, that by replacing it constantly we are doing a good thing. I also agree that there are so many toxins in our environment these days. By one estimate that I read a while a go – there are 5,000 new chemical compounds introduced into our environment every year. Most of these have not been properly tested for safety for humans or animals.
Great post – thanks for the reminder to keep my water intake up.

Does it have to be pure water? What about tea & flavored bottled water?

Flavored water is a good option but some have added calories, which is a concern for some. If you can drink un-caffinated tea without sugar, it has added benefits of antioxidants and will count as part of your daily quota.
Even though pure water is the best and most recommended, for some people they need a little flavor to be able to drink their 6-8 glasses a day.
