Ingrown Hair – Biological Treatment

Apply BIOSKINRELIEF before and after shaving.

Prevent and heal razor bumps, razor burn, skin irritations after shaving. Apply BIOSKINCARE before and after shaving. Reduce embarrassing redness after you shave. BIOSKINCARE takes away the redness, sting and irritation.

It contains a complex biological compound packed with enzymes, proteins, carbohydrate chains and trace elements that act in concert to dissolve or “digest” damaged tissues, trigger the proliferation of fibroblasts that give rise to new healthy skin structures such as collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans or water holding molecules, and eliminates redness and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The cream also boosts the proliferation of anti-microbial peptides on the surface of the skin that perform as natural antibiotics against acne and other bacteria.

This signals your immune system that it is being taken care of and can moderate the inflammatory response so that it does not cause further iritation, loss of tissues and ice pick acne scars.

Get Rid of Ingrown Hairs

You may notice, not long after you shave or depilate, that small bumps may appear. These may become further irritated resulting in redness, itchiness, discoloration, or infection.

What is known as pseudofolliculitis barbae but commonly referred to as “ingrown hairs” or “razor bumps” may be transpiring deep beneath where even your eyes cannot see. This problem affects Men as well as Women. What are the causes of ingrown hairs? And is there anything one can do to effectively deal with this situation?

But first of all, what is an Ingrown Hair?

An Ingrown Hair appears when the end of the hair shaft is cut resulting in a sharpened edge that as it grows, curls back into the same hair follicle and results in an inflammatory response (redness, itchiness, and/or raised infected area).

The hair curls over inside the follicle under the skin (just like the “razor bump” hair curls above the skin). By curling and being traped, the hair creates a foreign body reaction in the hair follicle, causes inflammation in the follicle and results in a bump.

It is not only irritating and painful, but it is also the reason why sometimes we develop those unsightly red bumps on the surface of the skin, often after shaving, waxing, electrolysis or other hair removal method.

For men, ingrown hairs often occur in their beard area and neck. The problem for women appears in the armpits, the bikini line and the legs.

What is the difference between Ingrown Hairs and Razor Bumps?

Razor Bumps (caused by infected hair follicles) come from the end of the hair shaft that, after being shaved, is cut in such a way that again the end of the hair is sharpened and as it continues to grow it curls into another nearby hair follicle. This introduction of the sharpened end of a hair follicle into another causes an inflammatory response in the skin and leads to a pimple or bump because of the inflammation of the skin.

What are the symptoms of an Ingrown Hair?
Each individual experiences different symptoms and the symptoms of an ingrown hair can be similar to other skin conditions. That is why you should always consult a Doctor for a diagnosis.

The most common symptom of an ingrown hair is an inflammation of the skin, followed by pus formation. Each ingrown hair results in a tiny, mildly painful pimple with a barely visible hair curling into the center. It is generally itching, tingling, more or less painful, hard, prominent, and often generates scars in chronic cases.

The body can also respond by producing a pustule on the skin containing pus. An infected pustule can become ruptured, resulting in bleeding. The seriousness of the inflammation and infection of the ingrown hair or razor bump may vary. For some this is an annoying occurrence that doesn’t pose a serious health problem. For others pseudofolliculitis barbae can develop into extreme Folliculitis when the hair follicle becomes acutely inflamed. Bacteria, yeasts, or fungi infections can further exacerbate the problem, and there are even acne variants of this same condition.

How do Ingrown Hairs occur?
Every time you remove hair from your body, no matter what method (waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams, shaving, etc.) chances are you will get ingrown hairs.

The problem starts when hair is removed below the skin surface. When these hairs begin to re-grow, they can curl up inside the hair follicle. The hair doubles over itself, making it impossible for it to exit the surface. You already know the consequences…

Some elements can facilitate Ingrown Hairs:

Skin suffering from lack of moisture,
Stiff beard hair,
Embedded oil in the hair follicles,
Build up of dead skin cells in the pores and on the surface of the skin can cause ingrown hairs,
Coarse curly hair growing in a curved hair follicle,
Improper shaving technique with a blade such as too close a shave,
Hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, tweezing, electrolysis, often irritate the hair follicle.
Dead cells can accumulate at the site of the irritation and form papule which can also contain pus while the skin heals.

How can You Get Rid of your Ingrown Hairs?
You can try to go to your Esthetician or Doctor to tease the tips of any ingrown hairs out of the skin with the point of a needle or sharp scalpel.

The best solution is, unfortunately, to let grow the hairs: When the hairs are longer, they do not curl back and puncture the skin. A man who does not want a beard can use a depilatory (a liquid or cream preparation that removes unwanted hair) made of thioglycolate, although it often irritates the skin.

Sure this method won’t be very useful for Women!
If you shave your legs or armpits, you should shave in the same direction in which the hairs grow. Shaving in the same direction (and not against the grain) helps to train the hair to grow out straight, thus preventing it curling back into the skin. Afterward a damp warm towel can be applied for a few minutes to further soothe and soften. Shaving closely with multiple razor strokes should be avoided.

Also, you can use depilatory creams, less aggressive for your skin.

If ingrown hairs are still a problem after making sure that the shaving process was completed in such a way that more occurrences are prevented, then you must remove the plug of hardened proteins that are blocking the hair follicle with exfoliation products so that the hair may grow outward. Beta hydroxy acids (such as a salicylic acid) are best for this because they penetrate deeply into the plug of hardened proteins and slowly dissolve the plug. If the inflammation has progressed to the point of serious infection, then a dermatologist or physician will need to be consulted. Another option of course would be laser hair removal.

Exfoliating every time you bathe and cleanse the face is your best defense against ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Gentle cleansing and keeping the skin smooth and supple works well to keep the hair follicles moisturized and growing in the right direction.

To avoid any problem of skin and Ingrown Hairs, you should apply after shaving (with any kind of depilation method), a cream that will calm down the irritation, cure the little injuries and repare your skin.

Our cream, due to its natural exfoliating properties, gently clears your skin and simultaneously enhances skin’s Collagen and Elastin production process. Hair Structure
Your hair are important contributors to your total look and given the right care they can make you look great. If neglected they can distract one from your appearance.

Hair, is an integral part of the structure of your skin and like your skin, it changes with passage of time.

A single strand of hair is made up of several components:

The hair shaft: The visible part of the hair is dead. It grows from the narrow tube below the surface of the scalp which is called a follicle.
The hair follicle: (sac)- is the portion of hair below the skin’s surface, is a single structure which lives and grows at an average rate of 1-3 centimeters (1/2 to 1″) per month.
At the base of hair follicle lie papilla, which eventually form hair.
Sebaceous glands: Next to each follicle produce natural oil that keeps the hair lubricated and shiny.
The hair extends through epidermis into the dermis, from where it receives its blood supply and sensitivity.

Pathological Disease Manifestations of “Ingrown Hairs” Inflammation: The body’s response to injury.

Papule Formation: A small superficial raised abnormality or spot on the skin, commonly known as a bump.

Pustule Development: A blister on the skin containing pus.

Bleeding: The rupture of an infected pustule and surrounding blood vessels due to their dilation and close proximity. These vessels are present and in a dilated condition to promote healing.

Micrococci: Colonies or clusters of bacteria that cause abscesses in affected tissue. Their presence cause the body to begin the healing effort by both collecting these harmful bacteria and also by building a wall around the bacteria to prevent further spreading throughout the body.

Leukocyte Count Increases: – The presence of white blood cells increases in a damaged or infected area to protect the body against foreign substances and to help produce antibodies.

Hypertrophy and Keloidal Scarring: Skin tissue begins to multiply in response to injury caused by the act of shaving, especially in sensitive areas (e.g. bikini line) thus causing Keloidal scarring. Keloid development is common in a small percentage of the population and is clearly defined as a hard, prominent, irregular shaped scar tissue, in the skin, often increasing in size. Keloidal scarring also usually occurs where healing injuries, burns, or surgical incisions are under tension. For those rare cases the use of Elicina® immediately after shaving will prevent the inflamed tissue from progressing to the point of keloidal development.

Epilation: The removal of a hair by its roots. This process is normally done by pulling the hair(s) with tweezers, using wax to strip an area of hair, or by electrolysis. All in all, the Treatment of Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (ingrown hairs) has been to use any one, or combination of, the following methods:

Hand Razors
Electric Clippers
Plucking devices
Depilatories
Shaving Preparations
Epilation Antibiotics
Retinoic Acid naturally contained in Rose Hip Oil
Discontinue shaving all together
Use BIOSKINCARE™ CREAM

Note: If bumps are already present, all ingrown hairs must be removed preferably by using tweezers. Then the area should be thoroughly cleaned or scrubbed with a good soap and hot water. Finally, apply Elicina® to cover the entire cleansed area. gently massage the product to get well into the pores for maximum benefit. Employing this process over a week will eliminate all traces of bumps, swelling and skin reddening.
